Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About JUMBOBAG
What is a JUMBOBAG™?
JUMBOBAG™ is the new cost-effective alternative to skip bin rentals. Large skip bins have limitations in the residential market. JUMBOBAG™ offers a simple solution. Buy a bag, fill it up and phone the JUMBOBAG™ professionals to take it away. You do not need to be there when we collect.
How does it work?
It's really simple! Buy a JUMBOBAG™ online. Take it home or to your job site, or store it away in your vehicle or cupboard until you need it. When you’re ready to commence work on your project, simply fill it up with waste you need removed and call us to arrange payment and collection. We’ll lift the bag(s) onto our lorry and dispose of the debris for you. We recycle 80% of the rubbish collected and pick up multiple bags at anyone time so you’re doing your little bit for the environment too.
How do I make it stand up when it's empty?

Simply fold down each corner of the bag and it will stay upright whilst empty.
Unfurl the corners when the bag is 20cm full of rubbish and it will stay rigid and upright.
This makes it a whole lot easier when you're using a wheel barrow too.
How big is a JUMBOBAG™?
The bag measures 1.3m wide x 1.3m deep x 1m high and has a 1.5 tonne capacity. When filled it will expand in excess of 2 cubic metres.
What can go into my JUMBOBAG™?
Subject to all applicable laws and regulations, any household waste, building waste, rubble, concrete, shingles, grass, branches, garden waste, soil, rock, bricks, drywall, or paint cans with no paint in them. The JUMBOBAG™ can handle it all!
What cannot go into my JUMBOBAG™?
We cannot accept any nonconforming waste or hazardous materials; paint cans with paint in them, oil, batteries, propane or gas tanks, fluorescent tubes, food waste etc. Please refer to our terms and coditions.
When can I book my collection?
You can book your collection online any day of the week at any time ad our call centre is open weekdays from 7am till 7pm. Our trucks perform JUMBOBAG™ collections Monday to Friday except public holidays.
Can I put the JUMBOBAG™ in my garage and fill it up there.
No, the crane truck will not be able to lift up the bag if it is placed in your garage.

Where do I place my JUMBOBAG™ so that the truck can reach it?
Please remember that we will be picking up your JUMBOBAG™ with a crane truck. The center of your JUMBOBAG™ must be placed on your yard or your driveway, no further than 4 metres from the edge of an accessible street, alley, or driveway. Here's a checklist to remember for your bag placement:
- bag must be placed up to 4metres from an accessible roadway being not less than 3.5 metres wide.
- heavier bags should be placed as close to roadway as possible to allow for additional weight
- Bag must be placed at the same height as the roadway (never lower than roadway)
- Bag cannot be dragged by truck operator so cannot be left in a garage or shed or situation that requires bag to be moved before it is lifted.
- Bag must be clear of overhead wires and trees to allow safe operation of crane.
Fence Heights
Our trucks are capable of lifting bags over a 1.5 metre fence (maximum). Our truck operator will require access to the bag so cannot be left behind locked gate, roller door etc
Truck Access
Driveways and Roadways
- Width – 3.5 metres minimum.
- Incline/decline - gradients of greater than 10% must be viewed by JUMBOBAG staff before confirming we are able to collect. (This is so the truck can safely operate crane) See image for example of 10% gradient.
-

Road width from which driveway is accessed from must be sufficient for truck to reverse into driveway. The width should be minimum 2 lanes. I.e. not 1 way single lane alley as truck cannot turn into driveway.
Accessible Roadway
- Accessible means truck must not be impeded by other vehicles or obstacles on or at side of roadway.
- Roadways with gates at entrance are not considered accessible.
- The roadway must not be a “clearway”. If the road is a clearway but only during peak hours, notify our call centre and we will do our best endeavours to pick up the bag in non-peak times.
- The center of the JUMBOBAG™ must be placed on your property no further than 4 metres from the roadway
** VERY IMPORTANT **
- Always ensure that there is 4 metres of overhead clearance from trees, overhead power lines, and house over hang, etc. To allow the crane truck to pick up the JUMBOBAG™.
