BOUNDARY Road in Tarneit has been an illegal rubbish dumping ground for many years - and the local residents say that enough is enough.
The section between Tarneit and Derrimut roads is shockingt, says resident Charmaine Camilleri, who adds a burnt out car has been left sitting upside down on the side of the road since February.
She said rubbish dumping was an almost fortnightly occurrence, with anything from bags of rubbish to furniture left throughout the night.
"It's been going on for years and years and we as residents find that our area, because of its remoteness, is being used as a rubbish dumping ground for anyone's rubbish that should instead be going to the tip.
"They are obviously avoiding tip fees and dumping it on our road."
The solution is to encourage people to hire rubbish removal companies or hire a skip or hire a skip bin. If more people were actively involved in rubbish clearance then things would not be in the situationt that they are at the moment.
Ms Camilleri said her family had called the council to complain about the volume of rubbish that existed. In the past the council regularly collected the rubbish however that is not enough. More efforts are needed to clear rubbish away. Thoughts on the new JumbBag are not yet in as it hasn't been released yet but as soon as it comes to market more people will do away with fly-tipping and will instead remove their rubbish using bags. Skip bins may also be the way forward but they are expensive.
"It's not the council's fault, but they clearly know about it because they come and clean up the rubbish a couple of days later after it has been left."
